What are Assistant Instructions?

In short

Assistant Instructions are rules and tasks you give the Noteless Assistant that define how a note or document should be modified or generated. Instructions are typically used after a note has been generated (for example, “Shorten note”), but they can also ask the assistant to create a new document (such as a referral or a medical certificate).

Examples (simple)

  • “Shorten note” – makes the note shorter while preserving the key points

  • “Expand note” – increases the level of detail in Findings / Assessment

  • “Use pronouns” – avoids “the patient” and uses “he/she/they” instead

  • “Write measures as a bullet list” – converts paragraphs into bullet points

Examples (advanced)

  • “Referral to diagnostic imaging” – explains what information must be included and lets the assistant draft the referral

Where can I find it?

Go to the left hand menu and find Library → Assistant Instructions.

How Assistant Instructions work

Choose a standard Instruction (for example, “Shorten note”) or create your own.

An Assistant Instruction can include:

  • Title and description (for recognition and intended use)

  • The instruction itself (clear text explaining what the assistant should do)

When you test an instruction on a note, the first response may take a few seconds, depending on the length of the text.

Sharing and ownership

In this version, newly created instructions are private to you.
