Noteless requires access to the microphone for the program to capture audio and generate notes. If the microphone is not properly connected, you will see this error message:
There can be several reasons why you see this error message:
Your browser does not have permission to use the microphone.
Your PC has blocked the microphone.
The microphone cable is not properly connected.
🎙️ General tips
Check the microphone: Ensure that the microphone is connected and functioning properly.
Other apps: Close any other applications that may be using the microphone at the same time.
Update your browser: Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser.
Follow this guide to give Noteless access to the microphone in the three most common browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.
💻 Step 1: Check the settings in your browser
Google Chrome
Find the browser settings:
Click on the three dots to the right of the address bar.
A menu will appear. Click on Settings.
Find the microphone settings:
In the window that opens, click on Privacy and security.
At the bottom of this page, find Site settings and click on it.
Check microphone permissions:
Click on Microphone and make sure that app.noteless.com has permission to use the microphone.
If access is denied, click on the arrow to the right to change the setting.
Restart the browser if necessary:
If the microphone still does not work after these changes, close Google Chrome completely before reopening it.
Go back to app.noteless.com and try again.
Microsoft Edge
Find the browser settings:
Click on the three dots to the right of the address bar.
A menu will appear. Click on Settings.
Find the microphone settings:
In the window that opens, click on Cookies and site permissions.
Click on Microphone.
Check microphone permissions:
Ensure that app.noteless.com has permission to use the microphone.
Change microphone permission:
Log in to Noteless.com. Click on the lock icon next to the address bar and allow microphone access using the drop-down menu.
Restart the browser if necessary:
If the microphone still does not work after these changes, close Microsoft Edge completely before reopening it.
Go back to app.noteless.com and try again.
Safari
Log in to Noteless:
Go to noteless.com and log in using your email.
Find website settings:
Click on the icon next to the address bar.
Click on Website settings.
Check microphone settings:
Click on Microphone and ensure that app.noteless.com has permission to use it.
Restart the browser if necessary:
If the microphone still does not work after these changes, close Safari completely before reopening it.
Go back to app.noteless.com and try again.
👩🏼💻 Step 2: Check your PC settings
If all settings in the browser are correct as described above, check that your operating system has approved microphone use in the browser.
Mac
Open system settings:
Click on the Apple menu (Apple logo) at the top left of the screen.
Select System Settings.
Go to privacy and security:
In the system settings window, click on Privacy & Security (in some versions, it may just say Privacy).
Select the microphone:
Under the Privacy section, click on Microphone.
Give apps access to the microphone:
You will now see a list of apps that have requested microphone access.
To grant access to an app, check the box next to the app (in this case, the browser you are using—Chrome, Safari, etc.).
If the app is not listed, open it first so it can request access.
Windows
Open Windows settings:
Click on the Start button (Windows icon) at the bottom left of the screen.
Click on the gear icon to open Settings.
Go to privacy settings:
In the Settings window, click on Privacy.
Microphone access:
On the left side, scroll down and click on Microphone.
Under Allow apps to access your microphone, make sure the toggle switch is set to On.
Allow desktop apps to access your microphone:
Scroll down until you see Allow desktop apps to access your microphone.
Ensure this toggle switch is also On.
Check that the browser you are using (Chrome, Edge, etc.) is listed among the apps that have microphone access.
